Friends of Bacton (PTA)
As a PTA, our role is to run fundraising events to enhance our children’s experiences while at primary school. We aim to run fundraisers throughout the year; regular events are our Christmas and Summer Fayres. We also run other events such as school discos, raffles and Easter competitions. We also hold second hand sales including books and uniform and provide refreshments at events such as sports days and parents' evenings.
The monies we raise are all given to the school to help fund projects, subsidise trips and provide enhanced experiences for our children. For example, we help towards the cost of coach travel for trips, have bought equipment for Early Years and paid for theatre groups to attend school and provide experiences many children may not be able to access. We work with the school to decide what the school needs and how the funds can be used for the best.
We do need parent volunteers to run the committee and also help out at events. We currently have several committee members coming to the end of their term. We are a friendly bunch who meet once or twice a half-term to plan and discuss ideas. Our AGM is held in September, and all are welcome to attend, but please do not hesitate to contact us via the school at any time if there is any way you could contribute to our cause. We encourage all parents to help our committee in any way they can, whether that be by supporting our events, donating time or raffle prizes, in order that our children can thrive in an enriched school environment.
Our latest editions to the school are two Buddy Benches. The story below explains what these are...
